High-density is designed to maximize pallet positions in minimal spaces.
These are some common types of high-density racking systems that Milwaukee Steel can help you with:
This system allows forklifts to drive directly into the racking structure to access pallets. It works on a last-in, first-out (LIFO) basis, meaning the last pallet stored is the first one to be retrieved. Drive-in racking is suitable for storing large quantities of the same product with minimal selectivity. However, it is more susceptible to damage from forklift drivers.
This system involves placing pallets on wheeled carts that are pushed back along inclined rails. When a new pallet is loaded, it pushes the previous one further back. Push-back racking allows for high storage density and better selectivity than drive-in racking. It is common to have a 2 to 5 pallet-deep setup.
Pallets are loaded from one side of the rack and move along rollers or wheels to the other side, where they are ready for retrieval. Pallet flow racking operates on a FIFO basis.
This system uses remote-controlled shuttles that move within the racking structure, loading and unloading pallets. Shuttle racking provides increased efficiency and storage density, as it eliminates the need for forklifts to enter the rack aisles.
VLMs are enclosed systems with vertically arranged trays that automatically retrieve and deliver items to an operator at an ergonomic workstation. VLMs utilize vertical space to optimize storage density while maintaining easy access to items.
While any of these systems will provide many more pallet positions, choosing the right one can be daunting. Let our experts determine your needs and help you choose the best system.
The most vital part of any structure is its foundation. Protect the legs of your uprights with these column protectors which cover the bottom 12”-24”. The most common damage to upright legs comes from turning forklifts.
Pallet rack uprights at the end of an aisle are exposed to the most traffic and most prone to being hit by material handlers.
Protect your workers in walking aisles! Rack back panels help to catch small items that may fall off pallets or shelves. Rack back panels can also serve as a cage to secure valuable and important items.
Our warehouse is always full of surprises! At times, Milwaukee Steel will buy full warehouses or mixed lots and end up with great finds. Our specialty items list is always changing and is not always accurate on this page. Reach out to us for any specific questions concerning these items!
Give yourself more square footage without paying for more footprint. Mezzanines make the most use of your vertical space to allow additional storage, offices and desks, or recreational use.
The M and U-shaped dividers are great for separating large items being stored vertically, such as piping and lumber.
Damaged uprights are a huge risk and liability. Sometimes it may be very costly to replace them. Repairing is a great option to save time yet maintain safety.
Great for storing and organizing small parts and components. Currently in stock, used, in sizes XL (15”x16”x7”) and L (11”x8”x7”)
Commonly found in a cube
shape, these steel racks are stackable and allow the quick organization of material that would otherwise be difficult or time consuming to palletize. Stack racks are easily moved via forklift, and some are even collapsible.
Move items across your facility with ease and safety in mind using conveyor systems. Perfect for manual, semi-auto, and fully automatic applications and various sizes.
